Roles and Responsibilities of Class Representative

Objective: To act as a liaison between students and staff, and to represent the students' concerns and opinions

  • To display the year plan and syllabus for internal assessment on the respective notice board.
  • To guide the students about rules of attendance (general), external visits, sports, medical leave, etc., as per the need.
  • To be fully responsible for collecting the fees from students periodically. The Supreme Court said college management can recover the fees "strictly in accordance with law".
  • To ensure that if the students have not paid the fee/fines of tuition and hostel fee before the last opportunity given, the student will not be permitted to write internal exams such as Primary, Terminal, and Preliminary Exams.
  • To prepare a consolidated student list in categories like day scholars (boys & girls), hostellers (boys & girls) with contact numbers and email IDs. Prepare the details of students traveling by bus (SANSTHA), their pick-up location, and drop location. Coordinate with office staff to get the required details.
  • To make sure all the subject teachers (PT Core subjects) are following the lesson plan and maintain cordial relationships with the external department HOD and core subject teachers.
  • To plan and prepare, in collaboration with the timetable committee, for the teaching timetable one week prior. If there’s an update or any change, it must be brought to the notice of the timetable committee and the principal.
  • To address students’ queries promptly and meet the parents of students, especially defaulters, in coordination with the principal.
  • To be responsible for uploading the class test marks and updating the attendance. Prepare and maintain a total attendance percentage on the last day of every month for all the students.
  • To be fully responsible for any leave requested and forwarded to the principal for the student. The leave shall be based on his/her regular attendance percentage, merit basis, or any emergency circumstances.
  • To send an official letter to the parents' house address for any issues related to the student's long absence. Discuss the same with the respective student mentor and obtain feedback if required (e.g., lack of attendance percentage, misbehavior, malpractice in exams, unauthorized absence from the college).
  • To collect information regarding slow learners (in terms of academic and personal problems) from the subject teachers and arrange remedial classes and counseling sessions in consultation with the principal. The list must be submitted to the principal within a day.
  • To identify above-average and fast learners and motivate them to excel. The list must be submitted to the principal within a day. To update data regarding students’ achievements in academics, sports, extracurricular activities, etc.
  • To coordinate with the subject teachers for the assignment and seminar topics and make a consolidated list of assignments and seminars. The students should be informed well in advance (about a week). Ensure that the students are guided properly by the respective subject teachers.
  • To take frequent feedback from the students about teachers’ performance as well as feedback from the respective subject teachers about the students’ performance.
  • To ensure all subjects are covered as per the planned lesson plan and to maintain appropriate files for each student and year-wise documents as per the NAAC criteria.
  • To ensure all planned activities are running smoothly to achieve the desired outcome and to ensure all students are maintaining appropriate discipline within the campus, in their respective lecture halls, practical labs, and clinical postings.
  • To ensure no official work is given to the students to complete on behalf of you and accomplish your work/duty that is assigned by the principal.
